Garrett's Popcorn

I use to like the Garrett's popcorn when it first makes appearance in Singapore. The smell is very fragrant everytime we passed by it...especially the ones along Citylink Mall (pity Ocean Pacific for getting their clothings smelled of fresh popcorns everyday though) lol

but now... im kinda sick of it. Guess one should not over-indulge in something, or anything. Which makes me strikes of the popcorn off my favourite foods list. Which makes the only ones in my favourite food list is the one and only : Luxemberger Macarons... oooohh Macaroooooooooooons w00t! Hopefuly will not over indulge in this one. We have other nice macarons from Canele, TWG (but i dont prefer TWG ones)

Cheers and sorry for the oh-so-long-never updated blog

King of Cakes : Baumkuchen

My sister was teling me this morning about the newly opened cake shop at the basement of Takashimaya, she knew this because it was so famous in Japan, but it seems to have originated from German though (ironic?)

"Baumkuchen"

pronounced 'bowm-koo-khehn'

Description:
A German specialty dubbed the "king of cakes," Baumkuchen is particularly popular at Christmastime. This tall dessert is comprised of many thin cake layers that resembles a tree's growth rings. Baumkuchen translates as "tree (baum) cake (kuchen)." It takes a master baker to make this labor-intensive cake in the traditional way, which is to spoon a sponge cake batter over a revolving oven spit, one layer at a time, browning each layer before adding the next. Today, other pans are sometimes used; one method is to brush a thin layer of batter onto the bottom of the springform pan, bake it for 2 to 3 minutes, then brush on another layer of batter and bake, and so on. Baumkuchen is tradionationally enrobed in a thin chocolate glaze, though vanilla or other flavors may be used.

Might wanna check it out one day. Price for small one around 8dollars and medium one around 14dollars-ish. ^^ ahh...food baby

Warning:-
- cant refrigerate once open, once refridgerate, thats it, the cake loses its moisture and won't taste so nice anymore..

Cake makes a good house-warming gift by the way.

60's Food Street

Went to Orchard last Saturday and came across this...

Another 60's themed food fare! Seems like it has been a trend in Singapore nowadays to bring back the good old dining ala 60's lol. Anyways, I'm probably might try this place out someday, not that soon though. By the way, it is very easy to locate this place (just opposite Orchard Central)
